Grade of Stainless Steel Railing Pipes
304 Grade of Stainless Steel Railing
- used where Railing is directly exposed to Sun and water such as Terrace, balcony, etc
- Approximately INR Rs 850 Running Feet (Includes material & labor). It may change if you need various designs.
- Highly corrosion resistance.
- More expensive.
- The spark color should be reddish orange.
202 Grade of Stainless Steel Railing
- Used where Railing is indirectly in contact to Sun and water such as staircase etc.
- Approximately INR RS 600 Running Feet (Including material & labor). This cost may be free according to the design and number of pipes added.
- Less corrosion resistance.
- 25 to 30% less expensive than 304 Grade.
- The spark color should be Yellowish.
Shape of Railing Pipes
Circular Pipes
- Always prefer to use Circular shape Pipe
- It provides a strong Grip than a Rectangular Pipe.
- Less expensive.
Rectangular Pipes
- Not much is Preferable.
- Fewer grips.
- Rs 60-90 more expensive than Circular pipes
Thickness/ Gauge of Pipes
Note: Higher the gauge, the lesser the thickness, and vice-versa.
- Top Pipe of 2″ Diameter with 16 Gauge thickness
- Bottom/small pipe of 0.75″ diameter with 18 Gauge thicknesses.
- Vertical Post of 1.5″ Diameter with 18 Gauge thickness.

Installation Tips for Stainless Steel Railing Pipes
Important Points to remember before, and during the installation of Stainless steel Railing pipes are;
- Always start the Railing works after finishing work (painting, marble polishing) has been completed.
- Check the Grade of the pipe before installation starts.
- Check whether steel is branded or Not. For the Below Image shows the pipe is Jindal H Pipe (H =Heavy Pipe). It comes in Heavy, medium, and Light sizes.

- Distance between the Vertical Pipe should not be more than 2 steps that provide the stability and durability of the railing.
- Check the length of the spark, if the length of the spark is 3′ to 4, then it’s 202 Grade steel, and if the length of the spark is 1′ to 2′ then it’s 304-grade steel pipes.

- Check the Quality and brand of the electrode that is used to join two pipes. The symptoms of Good quality electrodes are that after their use, there should not be any joints seems. At joints, soil is used and with the help of a buffing machine, makes it smooth.
- Check the Finishing at the Joints. It should be a smooth finish.

- Check the Railing by shaking, if it is shaking then fix the railing properly.
- Check the cap of the Vertical post. It also comes in 304 and 202 Grades.

- Check the Joints of the Vertical post. If the joints is not sealed properly, water will enter which will corrode the railing, Use a Waterproofing chemical at the joints.
