Hello friends, in this post I will tell you about how to calculate the quantity of steel required for 4″, 5″, 5.5″ and 6″ thick Slab. For this I have considered the Area of slab is 100 sq.ft and for this I am going to calculate steel quantity. Let’s find the steel quantity for 4 inch, 5 Inch, 5.5 Inch and 6 Inch Thick Slab.

**Quantity of Steel for **4 inch, 5 Inch, 5.5 Inch,** and 6 Inch Thick Slab.**

First I am going to calculate the steel quantity for 4 Inch thick slab.

__4″ Thick slab__

Consider, Area of slab = 100 Sq.ft.

Thickness of Slab = 4″ = 0.34 feet.

Volume of Slab = Area of Slab x Thickness of Slab

= 100 Sq.ft. x 0.34 feet. = 34 CFT.

Now Convert Cubic Feet into Cubic Meter. So for 1 cum = 35.3147 CFT.

To convert Cubic Feet to Cubic Meter, Divide 34 Cubic Feet by 35.3147, then we get.

Volume of Slab = 34 CFT/35.3147 **=0.962 Cum**

For Thumb Rule to calculate the Approximate Quantity of steel of Slab = 70 Kg/cum to 120 Kg/cum

Here I have considered 80 Kg/cum.

Quantity of steel = Volume of Slab x Weight of steel (Kg/cum).

= 0.962 cum x 80 Kg/cum = **76.96 Kg.**

Consider, Area of slab = 100 Sq.ft.

Thickness of Slab = 5″ = 0.416 feet.

Volume of Slab = Area of Slab x Thickness of Slab

= 100 Sq.ft. x 0.416 feet. = 41.6 CFT.

Now Convert Cubic Feet into Cubic Meter. So for 1 cum = 35.3147 CFT.

Volume of Slab = 41.6 CFT/35.3147 **= 1.177 Cum**

Thumb Rule, Quantity of Steel = 80 Kg/cum.

Quantity of steel = Volume of Slab x Weight of steel (Kg/cum).

= **1.177 Cum**x 80 Kg/cum = **94.16 Kg.**

Consider, Area of slab = 100 Sq.ft.

Thickness of Slab = 5.5″ = 0.4583 feet.

Volume of Slab = Area of Slab x Thickness of Slab

= 100 Sq.ft. x 0.4583 feet. = 45.83 CFT.

Now Convert Cubic Feet into Cubic Meter. So for 1 cum = 35.3147 CFT.

Volume of Slab = 45.83 CFT/35.3147 **= 1.297 Cum**

Thumb Rule, Quantity of Steel = 80 Kg/cum.

Quantity of steel = Volume of Slab x Weight of steel (Kg/cum).

= **1.297 Cum **x 80 Kg/cum = **103.76 Kg.**

Consider, Area of slab = 100 Sq.ft.

Thickness of Slab = 6″ = 0.5 feet.

Volume of Slab = Area of Slab x Thickness of Slab

= 100 Sq.ft. x 0.5 feet. = 50 CFT.

Now Convert Cubic Feet into Cubic Meter. So for 1 cum = 35.3147 CFT.

Volume of Slab = 50 CFT/35.3147 **= 1.415 Cum**

Thumb Rule, Quantity of Steel = 80 Kg/cum.

Quantity of steel = Volume of Slab x Weight of steel (Kg/cum).

= **1.415 Cum **x 80 Kg/cum = **113.2 Kg.**
